ABOUT APWHM
Course Description In AP World History: Modern, students investigate significant events, individuals, developments, and processes from 1200 to the present. Students develop and use the same skills, practices, and methods employed by historians: analyzing primary and secondary sources; developing historical arguments; making historical connections; and utilizing reasoning about comparison, causation, and continuity and change over time. The course provides six themes that students explore throughout the course in order to make connections among historical developments in different times and places: humans and the environment, cultural developments and interactions, governance, economic systems, social interactions and organization, and technology and innovation.
College Course Equivalent AP World History: Modern is designed to be the equivalent of an introductory college or university survey of modern world history.

Test Prep Books |
A few of you may be wondering if you need a test prep book, and which ones are worth purchasing. Please note this is NOT a requirement. You DO NOT have to buy a test prep book and it is not needed to be successful in this class or on the AP Exam. There are a number of excellent (and free) online resources - see above - that will serve the same purposes for review and practice. With that said, many students find these books extremely helpful. Which one is best for you depends on what you hope to get out of it. All of the books I have seen, even the newest 2018 editions, have not been able to keep up with the minor changes being made to the AP Exam, but the practice tests and content overviews are solid.
*As of June 1st, Amazon.com is still offering Kaplan's AP World History Prep Plus e-book as a free download. As with every other prep book I've seen, it is NOT up to date regarding the exam, but in terms of accessible content review and practice questions, it is good, and it is FREE (for a limited time). Go forth and download if you're so inclined.
